We are pleased to present to your attention our new publication - a collection of materials of the international scientific-practical conference "Challenges of modern socio-cultural space and museums of decorative arts".
In autumn 2021 the conference timed to the 40th anniversary of the museum and the Year of Germany in Russia was held at the All-Russian Decorative Art Museum. The main partner and co-organiser of the project was the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
The conference was devoted to the problems of development of museums of decorative and applied arts in the conditions of complex, rapidly changing socio-cultural reality of the XXI century. During the sessions and discussions the experts discussed such issues as: acquisition of collections with works of traditional decorative arts and modern design, modern approaches to exhibiting decorative arts, educational practices on the basis of museum collections.
The project was attended by heads and leading specialists of museums from Russia, Germany, China, Azerbaijan, Estonia, heads of committees of the International Committee of Museums (ICOM), teachers of art schools, universities and creative workshops.
The edition includes discussions and reports of the participants, allowing to trace the diversity of approaches amongst various institutions and to form an idea of the contemporary role and professional tasks of museums of decorative arts.
