The All-Russian Decorative Art Museum of is a partner and the official venue for the Festival "Russian Creative Week. Moscow-fest" that will be held in the capital from 3 to 9 July 2023. The purpose of the event is to create favorable conditions for strengthening the creative economy and development of networking. In cooperation with the Crafts Lab "Artocracy", the Museum will organize an intensive educational programme:

 

 

/ July 4, 19:00 - 20:30 Lecture "Sergei Eisenstein's Vyatka horse or how folk art influenced the work with colour in the frame"

 

The event will be dedicated to Sergei Eisenstein, the director of the cult films "Battleship Potemkin", "Alexander Nevsky" and "Ivan the Terrible". Sergei Eisenstein regarded the decorative and applied arts of all nations as a primary source of artistic methods. Using the technical inventions of the 20th century, the director continued to refer to folk art in an attempt to find an original solution. And Vyatka horse taught Eisenstein to work with colour in the frame, and even became a heroine of the cartoon.

 

Lecturer: Natalia Ryabchikova, film historian, Eisenstein scholar, PhD, lecturer at the National Research University Higher School of Economics.

/ July 6, 19:00 - 20:30 Master class on wood carving "In Search of the Wooden Code

 

What is woodcarving and why is it still popular in Russia? It is all about beauty and the ability to pass the skill from generation to generation. There is a wonderful Bogorodskaya Sloboda near Sergiev Posad, where hereditary wood carvers still live. A unique case of Bogorodsk masters in the guests of the All-Russian Decorative Art Museum during their master class will show how a tree comes to life in their hands and a sculpture is born.

/ July 7, 16:00 - 18:30 A lecture and presentation of the new collection "Oil and archaic codes of Ugra

 

Industrial codes and visual projections of Ugra natural resources. Author's textile patterns based on the special imaging of the oil and stone cuts of the Circumpolar Urals. Artistic solutions using associative climatic textures (ice, rivers, taiga), as well as archaic symbols of ceramics, metal, and ancient textiles, linking antiquity with the present and the future.

 

Speakers: Olga Bubnovene, art historian, director of the "Crafts Centre" (Khanty-Mansiysk); Ksenia Ilauski, designer, participant of the art residence "Crafts. Ugra. Design" participant of the art residence.

Special Collaboration at Museum of Moscow:

 

/ July 3, 16:00 - 17:30 Discussion "Museumification of Design Objects".

 

Development of museification in Russia and in the world. Cases of preservation, display and promotion of the national heritage of design. Concepts of acquisition of collections of design. How is the historical and cultural value of objects determined? What are the specifics of work with objects of design for a museum? Relevance of opening design collections in public museums to support local creative industries.

 

Speakers: Anastasia Krylova, head of the Fashion and Design Centre; Vera Savelieva, head of the Object Design Foundation; Lyudmila Shelukhina, chief curator (All-Russian Decorative Art Museum); Olga Kazak (ARThistory Laboratory of Trades); Natalia Polonnikova, specialist of the 1st category in exposition and exhibition activities; Galina Izmailova, head of accounting of museum collections (Moscow State United Museum-Reserve "Kolomenskoye - Izmailovo").
