HISTORY OF THE COMPETITION - BIENNALE "DESIGNED AND MADE IN RUSSIA"

The idea to launch the Biennale Competition "Designed and Made in Russia" belongs to the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the All-Russian Decorative Art Museum.

According to the regulations, the founders of the Contest are the All-Russian Decorative Art Museum and the Fund for the Development of the All-Russian Decorative, Applied and Folk Art Museum and Support for Creative Initiatives.

For 6 years, the project "Designed and Made in Russia" has transformed into an industry ecosystem, which includes: competition, business program, final exhibition-viewing, pop -up exhibitions, traveling exhibitions of nominees and winners.

 

2018. I COMPETITION - BIENNALE "INVENTED AND MADE IN RUSSIA"

Project leader: Elena Titova, Director of the All-Russian Decorative Art Museum.

Curators of the I contest - biennale:

Natalia Loginova, Head of the Fashion and Design Center of the All-Russian Museum of Decorative Arts 2017 - 2022;  

Svetlana Lipkina, industrial designer, researcher of contemporary Russian design and crafts.

Chair of the jury: Olga Kosyreva, design critic and design historian

2022. III COMPETITION - BIENNALE "INVENTED AND MADE IN RUSSIA"

Curator of the III Competition - Biennale: Natalia Loginova, Head of the Fashion and Design Center of the All-Russian Museum of Decorative Arts 2017 - 2022.

Chairman of the organizing committee: Ramilya Ataulina, Director of the Foundation for the Development of the All-Russian Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art and Support for Creative Initiatives.

2024. IV COMPETITION - BIENNALE "INVENTED AND MADE IN RUSSIA".

Curator of the IV Competition - Biennale: Anastasia Krylova, Head of the Fashion and Design Center of the All-Russian Decorative Art Museum from 2023.

Also, this year there is a new Special Project "Commonwealth Design", where designers and brands from CIS countries will be able to take part.

Throughout all the seasons of the Biennale "Designed and Made in Russia" the expert council and jury has been constantly expanded and updated, including leading experts, designers, design critics and art critics.

At the II Biennale competition, in addition to the Russian jury, an international jury appeared first time. It included representatives of leading museums and foundations in Europe.

At the IV Biennial Competition, the works of the participants will be first time evaluated by experts in the field of design and creative industries from the CIS countries, South Africa, India, South-East Asia and Latin America
