Where did the Bylinas come from and when did the fashion for depicting the bogatyrs begin? How did artists Viktor Vasnetsov, Ivan Bilibin, Elizaveta Bem, directors Sergei Eisenstein and Alexander Ptushko see the national epic? What is the history of the legendary Budyonovka worn by bogatyrs and Red Army soldiers?
In search for the “heroic” we will make an expedition to the Russian North, the birthplace of the Russian epic, learn how the bylinas were composed and the image of the hero-defender was constructed in the XX century, talk about the Soviet fairy tale in cinema and animation, and also learn who modern superheroes are and what their strength is.
