Continuing the line of researchers and innovators of folk art crafts, art historian Veronika Sotnikova will talk about one of the important figures for the whole Urals - Vasily Alekseevich Baradulin - art historian, researcher of folk art and Urals art painting.

Head of the laboratory of the theory and history of folk art of the Research Institute of Art Industry, he devoted many years to the study of historical and cultural features of the Ural-Siberian painting. Within the framework of expeditionary activities Baradulin travelled through the territory stretching from the North-West of European Russia through the Russian North, the Urals, the Urals, as well as Trans-Urals, Western Siberia, Altai and Eastern Siberia, to Transbaikalia, where there have long existed local varieties of Russian folk paintings of the "pictorial type". One of the clear evidences of this work are the artefacts brought from the places of their origine, which we can see in the new permanent exhibition of the museum "Journey Home. Traditional Art of Russia".

Lecturer: Veronika Sotnikova, art historian, head of the department of manuscripts and scientific documentation of the All-Russian Museum of Decorative Arts.
