TRACK 1: "CULTURAL CODE. FROM ARCHAIC TO NEURAL NETWORK"

During the first track of the laboratory, the participants will solve a difficult task – they will be asked to decode ciphers of traditional art, ancient images and archaic ornaments, natural materials and techniques and to create their own "text" in the language of modern art, and with the help of artificial intelligence too!

CLASS 1 "NEW ARCHAIC"

(4 July)

What is the unique "code" of domestic decorative art and object design? How to make the archaic past modern and relevant? The answer is simple - to visit the first lesson "New Archaics" of the children's design laboratory, held within the framework of the IV competition-biennale of object design

"Designed and Made in Russia". During the class you will study materials and techniques, forms and images used by masters in the XVIII - XXth centuries. At the end you will create your own author's work in collage technique, which can be presented at the virtual exhibition of creative works of the laboratory participants.

CLASS 2 "HERITAGE HACKERS: CREATING THE FUTURE FROM THE PAST"

We have been studying the past for a long time now, so this is the time to create the future from the past. We invite the young and creative participants to the second session "Heritage Hackers: Creating the Future from the Past" of the children's design laboratory held within the framework of the IV competition-biennale of object design "Designed and Made in Russia". You will explore regional applied arts using artificial intelligence and learn how to apply it to create new everyday objects, combining traditional motifs and modern design. Let the future come today!

CLASS 3 "SEW, MEND, SAVE!"

(18 July)

The theme of the class is reasonable consumption, careful attitude to natural resources. During the excursion in the halls of the museum the participants will learn about how our ancestors used natural materials (wood, birch bark, clay, cloth) and the general attitude to nature and manual labour as a value. At the master class the participants will get acquainted with the theme of conscious consumption and upcycling culture and will give a second life to a shopper by decorating it with the help of various techniques of working with textiles and accessories.

Note: participants bring their own shopping bags for the class, which they want to give a new fashionable look to.

CLASS 4 "FROM PRINT!"

(25 July)

Today, graphic techniques are used everywhere - from fashion to street art. At the last session of the track participants will get acquainted with graphic techniques in folk decorative art (painting, naboyka, lubok), and will make an author's print on a T-shirt and a series of graphic sheets on a professional etching machine in the workshop.

Note: participants bring to the class white T-shirts (or shoppers), which they want to decorate with the print.
