PROPAGANDA PORCELAIN. THE ARTIST AND THE TIME

01 january – 31 december

The program will present the museum’s unique collection of propaganda porcelain to the patrons. The program enrollees will discover Soviet porcelain of the post-revolutionary years, a unique phenomenon of Russian artistic culture. The revolutionary era was a special period in Russian culture and art. In the first months after the 1917 October revolution, the Soviet government appealed to artists, engaging then in the promotion of new ideals. A need for propaganda art emerged, which served as an impetus for the creation of propaganda porcelain as a new form of politically motivated art.

Within the framework of the program, its participants will get acquainted with the collection; photographs and music will help recreate the atmosphere of the time, with its ideals, aspirations and searches. The class consists of two parts: an interactive tour of the Gallery of Soviet Porcelain and a master class teaching you to paint a plate in the style of propagandistic art.
