The All-Russian Museum of Decorative Arts is opening an exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of one of the greatest ballerinas in history, Maya Plisetskaya.

The All-Russian Decorative Art Museum opens an exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of one of history's greatest ballerinas, Maya Plisetskaya. This is a unique event for lovers of ballet and XXth-century Russian art. The exhibition will present Maya Plisetskaya not only as a brilliant ballerina but also as a source of inspiration for generations of artists and craftspeople. The exhibition will feature approximately 300 pieces, including paintings, drawings, sculpture, porcelain, glass, medals, lacquer miniatures, and photographs. Many works held in private collections will be shown to the public for the first time. The exhibition will also feature exhibits from the collections of the All-Russian Decorative Art Museum. Maya Plisetskaya will be presented in the project as a holistic cultural phenomenon. Her contribution to the popularization of the traditions of the Russian classical school of ballet is unprecedented, and her image—the embodiment of individuality, personal dignity, and the pursuit of absolute virtuosity—has found vivid reflection in the work of her contemporaries. Works by XXth-century classics and innovators, as well as contemporary artists inspired by the magnetic image of the ballerina, will take their place in the museum space.
