Exhibition "Latif Karimov: Life Dedicated to the Art of Carpet. 110th Anniversary
of Latif Karimov"
In November 2016 — January 2017 a joint exhibition of the All-Russian Decorative Art Museum and the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum took place in Baku. It was dedicated to the 110th anniversary of Latif Karimov, an outstanding artist and researcher, the founder of fundamental approach to studying carpets, the author of the book "Azerbaijan Carpet". Unique carpets and items by Karimov as well as his sketches were on display. The masterpiece "Carpet with the portrait of Ferdowsi" has been brought from Moscow. Photographs and documents from the family archives were an important addition to the exhibition.Conference "Carpet Weaving Art"
The conference brought together delegations of the leading museums of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan Uzbekistan. The participants discussed conservation, restoration, and exhibiting of carpets and textiles.
Restorers’ internship
After the conference the Grabar Art Conservation Centre staff organised training for CIS countries specialists in the storages of the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum.
