We invite you to a one-day intensive on calligraphy "Old Russian ligature and cursive writing in flat brush technique". A six-hour class where you will get acquainted with the most decorative types of Old Slavonic writing: ligature and cursive, learn the difficult technique of working with a flat brush with turns, work out 2 alphabets in cursive scripts and get a great material for further independent practice.
Who can benefit from it? Fans of Russian culture, craftsmen, artists, calligraphers, graphic designers, typographers.
You can use the acquired skills:

Presenter: Elena Alekseeva - artist, calligrapher, curator of art residencies "Pomorie", "Artist's Book". Elena is a contemporary artist with architectural education and 15 years of experience in calligraphy. For 10 years she has been teaching, including online, for Russian-speaking artists from all over the world. In 2021 graduated from the art school "Learning Environment" specialising in Art Management under the guidance of Anna Buali. Studied in the workshops of Avdey-Ter-Oganyan and Arseny Zhilyaev. ELena studied calligraphy in the classes of Denis Brown, Yves Leterme, Brody Neuenschwander, Massimo Polello. Her work "Premonition" was shortlisted for the Yakitoria collection supported by MSCA 2021. The collection of clothes with calligraphy "Element of Feelings" co-authored with fashion designer Violetta Langas won the Grand Prix and the status of Russia's representative at Milan Fashion Days 2020. The font based on cursive script Sapiens was in the shortlist of winners in the international contest "Modern Cyrillic" in 2014. The artist's works are presented in the collection of the Museum of World Calligraphy.
All materials for the workshop are provided by the museum.
The duration of the workshop is 6 hours.
