The children will learn what design is and what role it plays in our lives. After studying the works of masters of the past in the permanent exposition of the museum and modern design at the exhibition “Designed and Made in Russia”, each participant will create several author's creative works in the technique of sketching, collage, linocut. The result of the course will be the presentation of a unique design project by each participant of the laboratory. The creative works will be posted in the social networks of the museum, and all participants will receive a diploma of the Children's Design Laboratory.
The duration of each lesson is 1, 5 hours.
The cost of the cycle of 4 classes is 6000 rubles per participant.

/ February 1 at 16:00. What is design? Expedition to the museum
As real designers, at our first lesson we will go on an “expedition” through the museum to collect material for our creative project and to understand what design is in the past and present. In the halls of the exposition we will sketch details of old furniture, platbands, holiday costumes, dishes and toys - items once created by master craftsmen, artists of arts and crafts. We will study carefully the objects that caught our interest, analyze the construction of the object, its purpose and place in the house or in the life of a person, the motives and signs of ancient patterns. In the workshop we will lay out sketches and we will think up with each participant the idea of an author's design project - maybe it will be modern clothes or a fashionable backpack, or maybe a collection of soft toys?

The idea found in the first session of the project will begin to turn into a “Designer's Book” - a colorful album where we will tell about our idea, a future object or a whole collection. After all, a designer is a person who tells what inspires him and what he would like to share with others through the object. Using different materials and techniques - collage with volumetric elements from cardboard and fabric, drawing, applique, we will begin to fill the author's album with bright ideas and findings. The workshop will be preceded by a tour of the exhibition “Designed and Made in Russia”, where we will see the best works of modern designers - they will certainly inspire us to our own creativity!

From print! Today, graphic techniques are used everywhere - from fashion to street art. At the third session of the laboratory in the halls of the exposition participants will get acquainted with graphic techniques in folk decorative art (painting, naboyka, lubka), and then in museum’s workshop with the help of a special press they will make a series of graphic sheets in the technique of linocut, which will become part of the author's “Designer's Book”.

At the final session, the participants will finalize their “Designer's Book” and present it to the entire lab team, including parents! Each author will receive a diploma of the Children's Design Lab, and their creative works will be placed as a virtual exhibition in the social networks of the All-Russian Decorative Art Museum.
