In recent years, the theme of searching for national identity, “cultural code” has become increasingly relevant, it is worth looking at the latest exhibitions of modern design and arts and crafts, where national motifs are criss-crossed with innovative technologies - traditional ornaments are generated by artificial intelligence, and art crafts get a new life with the help of modern authors. For example, the Khokhloma brand released its first collection with designer Alena Akhmadullina. The biennale of object design “Designed and Made in Russia” demonstrates an impressive range of interior solutions and deep work with the country's artistic and craft heritage. While the “Svayasi” project addresses the concept of the Russian home, interpreting images of folk culture through personal and historical memory.
During the lecture we will talk about contemporary Russian style, look at the examples – successful or not - of using traditional motifs, from interior design to object environment, and reflect on the priority directions of its development in the modern socio-cultural context.
The lecture is available online and offline.
