03 february – 24 march / 19:00 – 21:00

At classes of Dmitry Chekuchinov’s workshop, you will get an idea of the types of woodcarving, learn its basic elements, the art of composition and finishing techniques of creating wooden products at the junction of folk art and modern design. The museum patrons will have an opportunity to continue the experiment begun by “Russian style” masters back in the XIX century, and create a decorative panel “with a reference” to tradition. In class, you will be able to see original pieces of art from the museum’ collection, will learn how to handle the tools, and will go through the entire process of woodcarving, from drawing an ornament to designing the composition to the final decoration of a panel. The course enrollees will be able to use those skills afterwards, if they decide to do woodcarving professionally or as part of their leisure-time pursuits.

Your ticket to the course will subscribe you to four classes. A complete course consists of eight classes. All the necessary materials and tools will be provided by the museum. Entrance tickets to the museum are included in the course price.

Mentor: Dmitry Chekuchinov, a designer, participant of the exhibition project “The foothold. New Folk” of the All-Russian Decorative Art Museum.
